Meditating can be a wonderful thing. It can give you some time to relax, unwind and reflect. Even though you don’t necessarily have to have anything special to meditate, some products can help. For example, here are a few essential oils that can complement your meditative regimen.

1. Sandalwood


Sandalwood essential oil has a rich, sweet woodsy smell that is perfect for meditating. It can help you feel more grounded and settled. It’s a great mood booster that can help you settle yourself down to prepare for meditating. There are a few different ways that you can use sandalwood essential oil, including dabbing a drop on each of your palms before meditating or diffusing it in a diffuser in the room where you will be meditating.

2. Patchouli

Patchouli essential oil is harvested from the leaves of the patchouli plant, which is a member of the mint family. Patchouli has a musky and earthy smell, and people commonly used it in incense in the 1960s. It is another essential oil that is considered to be very grounding. It works well with other essential oils, so you can add a drop or two to your diffuser along with other meditation-friendly essential oils, like the emotional blends from doTERRA.

You probably already know that lavender is well known for its calming properties. Since you probably want to be in a state of complete calmness when you meditate, lavender can be an excellent choice. Plus, many people love the sweet, pleasant smell that it provides. Adding a drop or two of lavender essential oil to your favorite non-scented or lightly scented lotion and applying it to your body before meditating can be a great way for you to relax, and you’re sure to love the smell as well.

5. Frankincense


Frankincense is often considered to be the “king of essential oils.” People have used frankincense in religious and sacred ceremonies and events since ancient times, and it is great for helping you focus and feel more clarity when you’re meditating.
