Julius, “the Mad Thinker,” Spates
Internationally acclaimed, Chicago-based, artist and producer, Julius “the Mad Thinker,” Spates, has been using his talents and altruistic mindset to bridge gaps and build community since the early 90s.
In 1999, he co-founded 3degrees Global, a progressive and diverse community established with the mission of connecting like-minded idealists through music and art. His most recent event production Mi Casa Holiday (MCH), has taken that intial vision to the next level by adding travel to the mix. Spates and his team have taken the spirit of his original production on the road to various destinations in Latin America including Mexico, Costa Rica, and Cuba.
Since the age of 17, Julius has worn many hats while distinguishing himself in the dance music industry. He is a true visionary with infectious energy and amazing taste in music.
Julius produced his debut album, Perspective, in 2017. Perspective has been touted “an album of epic tunes for the dance floor, ranging from soulful vocals, deep to the classic Chicago sound. A wide array of variety and substance,” by legendary artist Osunlade. Perspective is available for download on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.
